Two public spaces for children have not been maintained by the authorities and they have become a home for anti social elements

The Valpoi town children’s parks are in a bad and neglected condition for several years
The children parks which were set up near the new Kadamba Bus Stand, and near the Police Station in Valpoi are in bad and neglected condition for  several years. Despite several complaints by the locals the concerned   authorities are not taking any action claim Valpoikars.
Parents and public are left disappointed as the main gate of the Children Park has been locked by the officials depriving children of their rightful playing area.
Following a demand from parents, the park was set up near a new bus stand a few years ago. Several structural equipment’s were installed to make the park more entertaining for children by spending crores of money. The park located near the police station is in a dilapidated state for a decade. Now trees have grown in what is the first and oldest park in Valpoi town.
Over a period of time the park has gone into decline and the maintenance work is completely lacking, people are complaining anti social elements make the park their den during late hours. Sometimes presence of these elements deters parents from taking their children there. Says Devidas Gaonkar, a parent.
“ There is no other facility for children in the town. The authorities should be very serious and particular about the facilities available in the town for the children. They have to maintain it properly, now we demand to the Government to provide us with a good children’s park in town”. says Sandesh Gaonkar, a local.
“ Every time, my children request me to take them to the children’s park, I am not able to fulfill their demand as both the children parks are in bad condition for several years” said Rajendra Gaonkar another local.
“ We have not put the children parks renovation proposal to the Government. Now we will hold a councilors meeting and in that meeting we will put up the proposal of the children parks renovation soon” said  Ramdas Shirodkar, Councillor.
