No permanent jobs at Mopa: Chandel sarpanch

PERNEM: Chandel Hasapur Village panchayat Sarpanch Tulsidas Gawas on Saturday said that there is no permanent job recruitment at Mopa airport site.

“Whatever jobs Pernem people are given are not permanent, all are hired on contract basis; employees are often not paid for two/three months. The Civil Aviation Dept and the GMR company are misguiding the government,” said Gawas.

Gawas further said that the panchayat is not going to allow government to acquire more land for the airport project.

“Lakhs of sq mt of land is already used for the project. Now if additional land is also acquired then how are people going to survive. There are well educated youth and government needs to provide them employment,” said former sarpanch Santosh Malik.

The panchayat requested Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant to look into the matter and provide relief to the Chandel villagers.

The first flight is set to take off from ambitious Mopa Airport on the occasion of Independence Day, August 15 and additional land is being acquired for illuminating the surrounding area of the airport.
