PONDA: Veling-Priol-Cuncoliem sarpanch Mangaldas Gaude on Monday refuted the allegations of some locals that panchayat has given permission for the mega project at Apewal, Ponda.
Addressing a press conference along with his deputy Diksha Gaude and panchas, Gaude said no file has been submitted by any person for construction of mega project nor has the panchayat given any permission for such project.
He said that one person has constructed an illegal structure at Apewal-Ponda. The Panchayat has issued him a show cause notice on Sept 20 based upon complaint filed by a local. He said the panchayat will not give permission for illegal constructions or mega projects without following legal formalities. It may be recalled that the locals of Apewal had complained of illegal activities and constructions following which panchayat had issued a stop work order.
to those involved in the illegal constructions, following which the work was stopped. However, when locals noticed this month that the concerned party had restarted illegal work they suspected that panchayat may have granted permission for mega project and were demanding that the work be stopped immediately.
