Minister for Town and Country Planning Vishwajit Rane has said that directions have been issued to the Town and Country Planning Department, Goa (TCP) not to grant any permissions within a 200-metre radius of Bondvoll Lake until the Goa State Wetland Authority clarifies the official status of the area.
Rane stated that there was no lapse on the part of the TCP department in the matter, adding that the land conversion in question was carried out in accordance with the Regional Plan 2021.

“Unless and until the Wetland Authority clarifies the status of the Bondvoll lake area, directions have been given to the TCP not to grant any permissions within 200 metres of the lake. There was no issue with the TCP department. The land conversion was as per the Regional Plan 2021,” Rane said.
He further informed that the issue will be placed before the Board, following which an appropriate decision will be taken.
The clarification comes amid concerns raised over development activities in the vicinity of Bondvoll Lake, with residents and environmental activists demanding stronger safeguards for the water body and its surrounding ecosystem.
