VALPOI: Ansulem village’s main road is in a very bad condition for the past decade. There are no street lights, no proper water drainage and the village bridge is in a bad shape and likely to collapse this monsoon.
“We have sent our voice to the Government, but they are not ready to listen. So all, the villagers have decided not to vote for the coming Lok Sabha polls. No road, no vote,” say Ansulem villagers.
According to the villagers, there are 100 plus houses and around 200 voters and Ansulem falls under Poriem Constituency. The villagers are reportedly raising their bad road issue in the gram sabha for the last 10 years. But no one is ready to take the action.
“Our local MLA and our North Goa MP have never visited our village. So this time we have taken a decision that they will not vote for the Lok Sabha Polls,” said a villager.
“Beside this there are no street lights and public transport. Our village children go to school walking almost six kilometres per day. The Balrath Bus is not coming to our village. During the election time many people are coming with luxury vehicles in our village promising us that they will do our village road. After election no one visits our village. Since last three elections we are demanding for good road not any jobs,” said Tatoba Desai, a villager.
“The Government is not providing us jobs. But at least repair the village road. When anyone falls sick from our village, we call 108 Ambulance, but the 108 service is not ready to come in our village due to bad condition of the road,” says Babu Humane, a villager.
“The Bhirondem Village Panchayat has handed our village road file to the PWD Department but that file is on hold in the PWD Head Office, Panjim since past several years, due to the political reason. So we will not vote this time,” says another villager, Kasturi Desai.
