MAPUSA: Refuting allegations made by the Calangute Constituency Forum (CCF) through its memorandum, the GTDC’s Project Cell has clarified that there is no sewage discharge from the toilet block at Candolim and the Sewerage Treatment Plant is functioning well.
The GTDC Project Cell has allayed all fears in this regard stating that on May 14 due to a blockage in the outlet of the aeration tank, the STP technician had to open the outlet valve of the aeration tank to clear the blockage.
This resulted in a minor spillage of sewage into an open space. Steps were taken by the GTDC Project Cell and the blockage has been cleared and the toilet block and STP are functioning properly.
