The report by North Goa Collector Nila Mohanan was submitted to Goa government on October 30, 2014, seven days after the then Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar (now Defence Minister) ordered a magisterial inquiry based on Herald’s report quoting the 32-year-old tourist. An interpreter, a crucial witness in the case, has stood by the victim’s version as the former was in the examination hall when the incident is supposed to have occurred. Two female doctors and a few others had also testified before the Collector in the case.
‘No substance in Russian woman’s case’
PANJIM: Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar said he feels that the allegations of molestation made by a Russian tourist against a Goa Medical College and Hospital doctor have no substance, though he conceded that he had not analyzed the confidential report on the case. “I have not gone through the report. But prima facie from what I am told, there is no substance in it,” he told Herald on the sidelines of the launch of Goa State Youth Policy 2015.
