VASCO: With no response to the e-tender notice, the Mormugao Municipal Council is looking at various options to carry out the repair work of the dilapidated municipality building ceiling on urgent basis.
Speaking to Herald, MMC Chief Officer Arvind Bugde informed that the urgent repair work of the ceiling will be done by taking quotation and the major renovation work will be tendered later. The MMC is likely to go for quotation, opt for utilising municipal funds or use funds from Fourteen Finance Commission Scheme.
He further stated that for this work, around Rs 3.5 lakh municipality fund is likely to be utilised or if we get the approval from the Fourteen Finance Commission Scheme then we might utilise it, whichever is convenient.
When enquired about the recent online tendering done by the MMC, Budge informed that as there was no response, it will be done once again.
It may be recalled that recently Herald had highlighted the issue under headline after the onset of monsoon the ceiling of the Portuguese era building of the municipality started leaking at several places.
The building houses municipal school, administrative offices, library, urban health centre and other public offices.
MMC Chairperson Nandadeep Raut had recently revealed that the old municipality building of Mormugao has been taking beating from the seasons and especially during the rainy season at several places including the municipal counter and municipal school premises, it was leaking.
Raut had also informed that he had asked the municipal engineer to pursue this matter and try to undertake necessary repair work of the ceiling before the monsoon or else it might bring in uncertainties.
