MARGAO: Investigations into the Nessai blast revealed that the antecedents of the deceased from Hubli were not registered either with the Maina-Curtorim police or the Sao Jose de Areal village panchayat.
Land lady Elsa Fernandes is now facing the heat from investigating officers, as she was subjected to questioning and interrogation. She informed that she had leased out the rented premises to the Hubli native around a month ago. She, however, conceded that she did not obtain the deceased’s antecedents as the latter had promised to do so within 2-3 days. “When I had leased out the premises to the deceased, he had promised to provide all details within 2-3 days. I forgot to obtain the relevant information from him since I was preoccupied with my husband’s illness before he expired”, Elsa maintained.
She told senior police officials that the deceased had informed the family that he was employed in the mining sector. “We had no suspicions about his antecedents given that he was staying with his family and children”, remarked a family member.
Giving details of the movements of the deceased, a family member told senior cops that the deceased was found moving out of the house in the evenings and returning back in the morning.
