VASCO: With the State already under ‘partial’ lockdown due to the coronavirus scare, the Kadamba Bus Stand and Railway Station in Vasco are yet to get the thermal scanners to screen passengers.
Stating that instructions have been given to the employees regarding precautions and awareness; Railway Station Master and Vasco MLA however informed that they have not yet received the thermal scanners.
A visit to the Vasco Railway Station revealed that utmost precaution has been taken by the South Western Railway at the station. A special helpdesk displaying the do’s and don’ts to prevent the spread of coronavirus is in place with 104 helpline number in case of any symptoms among passengers has also been displayed.
An attendant informed that the helpdesk has been set up to provide information and assistance in case of emergency at the station.
He said in case they come across any suspected case, they would immediately intimate it to the medical team. The travel history is collected of the suspected passenger with regards to his/her visit to coronavirus affected areas.
Vasco Railway Station Master, Ramdas Guddemani said he along with officials from South Western Railway and Health officials held a special meeting on Monday to discuss ways to prevent coronavirus.
He said they have not received thermal scanners till date. Once they get these scanners there will be only one entry and exit point at Vasco Railway Station” Guddemani added.
Recently, KTC bus stand at Vasco was sanitised and disinfectants were sprayed in buses. And this is being done regularly, informed KTCL Chairman Carlos Almeida.
On thermal scanners at Vasco KTC bus stand, Almeida informed he has written to the Health Minister in this regard and expects them as soon as possible.
Dabolim airport sources informed that have been regularly undertaking fumigation and cleaning washrooms with disinfectants. Passengers have been screened with thermal scanners.
