No time frame on restart of mining: CM

PORVORIM: Amidst demands from every quarter over immediate resumption of mining operations, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Tuesday informed the Goa Legislative Assembly that a time frame in which the mining industry in the State 
“The government is exploring all the options to restart mining operation in the State. The time frame cannot be ascertained at this stage; however, efforts are taken to start the mining operations in the State,” Sawant said in a written reply to a starred question tabled on the floor of the House by BJP MLA Subhash Shirodkar who had questioned the steps taken by State government to start the mining industry in Goa.
The mining industry has come to a standstill after Supreme Court quashed 88 mining leases in the State.
Sawant had recently assured the mining industry dependents that issues pertaining to the sector would be resolved by the end of July. During a NITI Aayog meeting recently held in Delhi, Prime Minister Narendra Modi also emphasised the need for quickly finding a resolution to the mining impasse in Goa.
