No train from Chandor towards Margao for five hours today

MARGAO: Rail Vikas Nigam Ltd will shut down train plying from Chandor to Margao and further for five hours on Saturday, February 6 in order to facilitate the construction of the rail underpass at Chandor level crossing following which the rail underpass will be commissioned.

In letters addressed to the two sarpanchs of Guirdolim and Chandor Cavorim villages, RVNL General Manager has sought their co-operation to carry out the work.

It may be recalled that this underpass got green signal after much struggle as some locals demanded rail overbridge instead.

Meanwhile, Rail Vikas Nigam Ltdasked Collector Ruchika Katyal Friday morning to expedite the land acquisition work so that double tracking of the South Western Railway Line is completed as soon as possible.

RVNL officials revealed that at some places particularly from Majorda to Vasco stretch some land owners have given NOC while the neighbouring land owners are causing problem.

As people were reluctant to give NOC for the land acquisition the land was sought to be acquired under the Indian Railways Act and RVNL asked the collector to speed up the process now.
