MARGAO: Six panch members of Davorlim-Dicarpale Panchayat tabled a no-confidence motion against sarpanch Herculano Niasso as well as deputy sarpanch Michelle Miranda.
Sarpanch and deputy sarpanch do not take panch members in confidence before taking decisions, implementing development projects without enough transparency and cooperation, misusing resources from the panchayat area and mishandling the funds approved for development works were cited as the reasons by panchayat members.
Panch members Santosh Naik, Vidhyadhar Arlekar, Shyam Rajadhyaksh, Sampada Naik, Carmino Carvalho and Vidhi Varak have signed the motion. The process to elect a new sarpanch will begin within the next 7 days if the motion is passed.
