CHORAO: Five panchas including the deputy sarpanch have moved a no-confidence motion against Chodan-Madel Sarpanch Divya Usapkar.
In the no-trust motion notice submitted to the Tiswadi Block Development Officer, Deputy Sarpanch Shamba Kalangutkar, Panchas Vishal Acharya, Rama Kubal, Vassudev Dhuri and Arti Bandodkar alleged that the sarpanch failed to take the members into confidence, encouraged illegal constructions and lacked interest in development activities.
The nine-member Chodan-Madel Panchayat was earlier ruled by the BJP-backed group. But with a split within the ruling group, the four members including the deputy sarpanch moved the no-confidence motion with the help of opposition lady Panch Arti Bandodkar. The post of sarpanch is reserved for women panchas.
