PORVORIM: While 1,517 individuals were booked for violation of Standard Operating Procedure (SoPs) during the COVID-19 pandemic, the State government has given a clean chit to hotels, night clubs and other commercial establishments.
In a written reply tabled on the Floor of the House, the Chief Minister Pramod Sawant said that authorities reported no case of violation of SOP issued by the Government by any hotel, clubs, night clubs or event organizers during festivals or special occasions in the State.
At the same time, he said that a total of 1,517 cases booked by Goa Police for violation of SoPs from March 23, 2020 to December 31, 2020.
Leader of Opposition Digambar Kamat had tabled the Question on the law and order situation in the State.
Responding to the same, the CM said that the law and order situation in the State is under control with various measures being taken to maintain it.
As per the information provided, a total of 148 cases related to narcotic were reported in the State till December 31, 2020, while another 135 cases of atrocities on women including rape and kidnapping were registered. Till date for the year, there have been 397 thefts, 109 burglaries, 13 robberies, two dacoities, which were reported in the State. There were also 34 murders. “No case of Gang wars/Gang fights were reported in the State from year 2012 to 2020,” Sawant said.
