VASCO: The Mormugao Port Trust (MPT) on Thursday made it clear that any structure coming up within its port limits will have to obtain No Objection Certificate (NOC) from it.
On Thursday, speaking to media persons on the Arossim beach shack permission controversy, MPT’s Deputy Chairman Guruprasad Rai said, “Currently, there is no policy as such, not only shacks any structure coming up in MPT waters will need our NOC.”
He said some area in Arossim comes under the MPT’s jurisdiction and the trust is authorised to give permission within its jurisdiction.
Stating that a party from Baina approached the MPT for NOC which was granted, Rai said, “I know that some portion of Arossim is under MPT limits because we had gone there when a barge got grounded. Nevertheless, MPT is giving NOC as long as the application is routed through State government (Tourism Department). There is no issue for MPT to issue NOC for any shack allotted by Tourism Department in MPT’s Jurisdiction.”
