MARGAO: In Director of Municipal Administration (DMA) Elvis Gomes’ home town Cuncolim, citizens are complaining of delay in clearance of files pertaining to income certificates and house repairs.
Days after daily wage workers complained of the inordinate delay in the payment of wages by the civic body, complaints are now pouring from citizens over the delay in issuing income certificates and NOCs for house repairs. The citizens have lodged their complaints to the Cuncolim Municipal Chairperson Devendra Desai, who has expressed his helplessness since the matter falls within the domain of the administration.
When contacted, the CMC Chairperson admitted that there have been complaints of delay in issuing the income certificates and house repairs by the civic body. “Since the matter pertains to the civic administration, I will bring it to the notice of the Chief Officer Maya Pednekar so as not to cause hardships to the citizens”, Desai said.
Replying to a question, he said the Chief Officer has released payment of wages to all the municipal daily wage workers after verification of the documents. Sources in the know said the Chief Officer had taken up the issue of payments to the daily wage workers, but DMA Elvis Gomes is believed to have advised the Chief Officer to put down in writing any grievances pertaining to the wage payment of the civic workers.
Sources in the know said that some citizens are now planning to call on Gomes to impress upon him the need to tone up the CMC administration and make it people friendly.
