PANJIM: The Goa State Pollution Control Board (GSPCB) Environment Department and the Goa Police filed their separate compliance reports before the High Court of Bombay at Goa on the measures adopted by them to curb noise pollution beyond 10 pm.

On November 30, the High Court had directed the GSPCB, Sub Divisional Police Officers (SDPOs) and concerned Sub-Divisional Magistrates (SDMs) to ensure that no loud music is played beyond 10 pm at the parties held across the State.

The High Court had ordered the GSPCB and the Department of Environment and Climate Change to be made parties in the Public Interest Litigation (PIL) against noise pollution in the State and later sought compliance in the said matter.

The Environment Department has informed the Court that a work order has been issued for procuring the machines that will be used in monitoring the sound levels at venues where permissions for parties are sought. The GSPCB has also informed that they will file report on the fitment of machines and the compliance of the time restrictions.

Meanwhile, the Goa Police have submitted an Action Taken Report wherein violators of time restriction for playing music were booked and their equipments seized.
