The infrastructure for the sub district hospital at Chicalim is getting readied and the project is likely to be completed in another few weeks. However, due to the non appointment of required staff and medical officers and specialist doctors, there are possibilities that there would be unwarranted delay in the commissioning of this new and much needed facility.
The work for the project was started on June 22, 2014 by Goa State Infrastructure Development Corporation (GSIDC) with the assurance that the project would be completed in 18 months time (by December 2016). However, the project missed its completion deadline and would now be ready by August 31, 2017. “We have been given deadline of August 31, 2017 to complete the work and till date we have completed 95 per cent of the works. With the pace we are going, we are hopeful that we will complete the works on time or with the delay of another 15 to 20 days,” said a staff appointed Decor Home (I) Private Limited (GSIDC appointed contractor).
Considering the importance of the project the health department should have started making arrangements for the commissioning of this new facility; however it is learnt from reliable sources that the health department so far has only created 22 posts, but the appointments are yet to be made.
The project is already delayed by 8 months and there is no clarity whether the project would be commissioned by September with all required facility or the department would go ahead with the commissioning of the project.
