SANGUEM: Executive Magistrate and Joint Mamlatdar Sanguem Shankar Gaonkar has issued a non-bailable warrant against a local cable TV operator for alleged deficiency in services.

Gaonkar acted on a complaint lodged by cable users from Costi-Sanvordem and neighbouring Sanguem taluka, who claimed that the cable operator had failed to provide disruption-free facility to the cable users.

The cable users in Sanguem and nearby Costi had complained of poor services since the last three months. The cable users, more particularly from Costi, complained to the executive magistrate that the cable service remained suspended for several days in a week forcing people from remote areas to run to their neighbours’ houses having DTH connections to watch their favourite programmes.

After having registered the complaint, Gaonkar sent summons to the official attached to cable services in Sanguem. However, despite two hearings having taken place, the official did not respond to the summons issued by the executive magistrate and failed to attend the hearings.

Irked by the indifferent behaviour of the cable operator, Gaonkar at the hearing on June 17 issued a non-bailable warrant against the cable operator, while fixing the date for next hearing on   June 21.
