PORVORIM: Students at the Sanjay School in Porvorim have been without music classes since Tuesday, as their music teacher, Norman Fernandes, the prime suspect in the double murder at St Cruz, is currently at the GMC hospital and is likely to be arrested on his discharge.
The school management is in an unusual situation regarding Fernandes, who has been charged by Old Goa Police in the double murder.
When asked if the school management had suspended Fernandes after a
case was registered against him, Guruprasad Pawaskar, chairperson of the Sanjay School management, said: “We are awaiting a letter from the Education Department in this regard.”
However, Director of Education Anil Powar has clarified that the Education Department had no role in the decision regarding the suspension of Fernandes.
“The decision regarding the suspension of Fernandes would have to be taken by the school management,” said Powar.
