North collector too bans import of birds from Karnataka

PANJIM:
After the South Collectorate, the North District Magistrate has banned the import
of all birds from neighbouring Karnataka as a precautionary step to avert the possibility
of bird flu in the State.

The
notification prohibits the transportation and entry of birds from the adjoining
State into Goa for a period of 60 days from July 25 to September 22 unless
withdrawn earlier.

Sources said the measure has been taken since there have been
confirmed cases of bird flu in Karnataka’s Bidar district.
