North DM issues safety guidelines to landlords, cyber café owners, hoteliers

PANJIM: The North Goa District Magistrate has issued safety guidelines to internet cafes and owners of residential accommodation who rent out premises besides managements of hotels, lodging & boarding, and paying guests.

PANJIM: The North Goa District Magistrate has issued safety guidelines to internet cafes and owners of residential accommodation who rent out premises besides managements of hotels, lodging & boarding, and paying guests.
As per the notification, effective from May 18 to July 16, cyber cafes are instructed to maintain a record of the visitor/user’s ID and ensure an entry in their handwriting mentioning their details.
“The visitor/user shall sign the register kept for this purpose. The identity shall be established through govt ID card only such as voter card, driving licence or passport etc. The activity server log should be preserved in main server and record maintained for at least six months. If any activity of the visitor is of suspicious nature, the police should be immediately informed while also owners should install CCTV camera at the entry point of each cyber café,” the notification reads. 
The District Magistrate has also ordered owners of houses, buildings, flats and other residential accommodation as well as the owners/management of all hotels, lodging and boarding, private guesthouses, paying guest accommodation of religious bodies to compulsorily verify the bonafide of visitors through proof of identity and ensure that tenant verification forms are filled and submitted to the respective police stations.
