PANJIM: The North Goa Collector has asked the Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM), police, and other authorities to take immediate measures to ensure that the sound decibels are within permissible limits during the Carnival floats parade at Panjim on Saturday.
The District Magistrate Mamu Hage issued the order following a complaint by social activist Adv Aires Rodrigues to the GSPCB, to ensure that there is no violation of the Act by way of noise pollution all throughout the Carnival floats parade and also during the four-day celebration to be held around the Panjim municipal garden, which is also a residential area.
The Pollution Control Board forwarded the copy of Adv Rodrigues’ letter to the Collector and the SDM, and the police for ensuring that necessary action is taken in terms of the Noise Pollution (Regulation and Control) Rules, 2000 and order of February 9, 2023
