PANJIM: The North Goa Collector’s vehicle was found violating traffic rules on the Old Mandovi bridge, giving indication of the same kind of violation wherein a rent-a-car was involved in causing a fatal accident last week.
The official vehicle GA-11-G-1111, was seen crossing the lane on the old Mandovi bridge, which could have caused a major mishap if an coming vehicle was coming. It was not known whether the North Goa Collector was travelling in the car.
However, North Goa Collector Sneha Gitte appeared unaware of her driver’s folly on the bridge.
When contacted. Gitte said, “I am not aware of it. My driver drives the vehicle and if he has committed the traffic violation he will be booked (for it).”
Last week, a rent-a-car driven by one Aniket Tripathy under the influence of alcohol overtook and hit an oncoming two-wheeler rider Javed Sadekar of Nachinola. With the impact Javed was flipped into the rider and died.
