MAPUSA: Govt has spent crores of rupees on sprucing up the North Goa District Hospital Mapusa. However, it is an utter shame that the hospital which is supposed to look after the health of the people is itself sending out sewage outside its compound.

Sewage is flowing from North Goa District Hospital Mapusa into the gutter and then on to the roads, emitting a foul smell and posing a threat to patients and their relatives who visit the hospital.

Social worker Sanjay Barde has pointed out that the govt should have ensured that the sewage works are not neglected, after spending crore of rupees on the hospital. There is an engineer, a contractor and a supervisor, how could the overflowing of sewage escape all of them? he questioned.

Even the work of the hospital building itself is done badly. They have done fabrication on top. The Assistant Engineer who was supervising the works should have seen that proper work was done, Barde said.
