North Goa MP rejects charge that BJP can’t solve mining crisis

PANJIM: Lok Sabha candidate for North Goa and four-time MP Shripad Naik has come down heavily on former PWD Minister Ramkrishna (Sudin) Dhavalikar for blaming that the three BJP MPs failed to raise the mining imbroglio with the Centre.
“During his time, there was only one sitting (of all party delegation with central leaders) and when we met in Delhi, he (Sudin) did not speak one word. He was sitting in the corner whereas only Puti Gaonkar and I spoke on this. Why has he woken up so late? He is mistaken by saying we did not do anything,” said Naik.
MGP leader Sudin had recently slammed the BJP for being unable to solve the mining issue despite in power in the State as well as at the Centre. Sudin had also alleged that the three MPs Shripad Naik, Narendra Sawaikar and Vinay Tendulkar ‘never opened their mouth before their central leaders.’
Naik pointed out that the State government had met various leaders like Prime Minister Narendra Modi, central ministers Nitin Gadkari, Piyush Goyal among others including BJP National President Amit Shah to resolve the ongoing mining crisis.
When asked if the issue will impact BJP’s prospects in the upcoming LS polls, Naik said that people are aware about efforts made by the government to solve it. “We have met the mining dependents and committed to them that we will pursue with the matter till it is resolved. The people of Goa cannot be misled by statements from the opponents that BJP-led government is not doing anything. We are sensitive towards the subject and the livelihood of the people,” he replied. .
