The North Goa Rent-a-Car Association
convened with the Department of Road Transport in Panjim to address the recent
hike in yearly road tax rates imposed by the government. The Govt. has decided
to convert this yearly tax into one time tax for lifetime.
Expressing dissatisfaction with this
decision, the association brought their concerns to the attention of the Public
Grievance Officer, highlighting the impact it would have on their operations.
Nitesh Chodankar, vice president of North Goa rent a cab Association said, “the
hike in road tax is pinching us very badly and to discuss and come up with a solution
we have gathered here”.
Responding to the concerns, the Public
Grievance Officer stated that it will be beneficial for the owners as they have
to not pay the tax every time when their permit ends. Officer said, we will
have to work together to get these things sorted.
