Not happy with compensation, land owner writes to Gadkari

Winston Rodrigues, in his letter, has highlighted the land owners' issue where land is being acquired for the Margao Western bypass and compensation being paid as per the Goa Gazette, 2013 and not as per the market value which is what a willing buyer is ready to pay and also not as per Land Acquisition Act-LARR 2013

MARGAO: A person who “lost” his land at Dramapur has written to the Union Minister of Road Transport Nitin Gadkari highlighting how his land was acquired at a low cost.
Winston Rodrigues, in his letter, has highlighted the land owners’ issue where land is being acquired for the Margao Western bypass and compensation being paid as per the Goa Gazette, 2013 and not as per the market value which is what a willing  buyer is ready to pay and also not as per Land Acquisition Act-LARR 2013.
Winston said, “As per online real estate websites and newspaper advertisements and approved valuers, rates in Dramapur village, Salcette, Goa is plus Rs. 20,000/sqmt which means compensation for this land being in rural area should be multiple of four as per LARR 2013, (Land Acquisition Act) which means Rs 80,000/ sq.mt plus solatium of 100% of the compensation. But my land was acquired at a cost of Rs.2282/-per sqmt.”
“As per PWD for higher compensation, we should go to the Courts which already have a massive backlog of cases. We can negotiate to get the compensation of Rs 80000/sqmt plus Solatium of 100% of the compensation, without going to the Courts. I do not mind for the sake of my beloved country and development and accept a little less,” said Winston.
Winston has also reminded the Road Transport Minister of his statements of how he felt on land rights and compensation for land losers.
