PANJIM: Warning people against taking the ‘foolish’ Kiki Challenge, Goa Police have urged them to instead take up challenges related to studies, health and social causes. The Police Department has even called celebrities ‘crazy’ for resorting to dangerous stunts that prompt people to imitate them.
“People have been urged to stay away from such foolish challenges, even if some crazy celebrities are doing it. But, instead they have been asked to take some other good challenges such as clearing competitive examination, staying fit and healthy, helping poor and needy, quitting smoking/alcohol etc,” a release issued by the Superintendent of Police (Traffic) says.
The department said that the Kiki challenge is highly dangerous to the person doing it and that of other road users adding that they want the people to be safe.
The Police have warned of strict action under the Motor Vehicle Act and the Indian Penal Code while a stunt performer is also liable to be arrested and the vehicle can also be confiscated.
Herald had reported on August 2 that Goa Police is taking no chance, even as intelligence reports do not indicate any such a stunt in the State. Inspector General of Police Jaspal Singh had told Herald that Goa has been saved from this dangerous stunt. “There is no input about Kiki Challenge as of now but we are on our toes. Patrolling at every point is being carried out,” he had said.
