PANJIM: The State government has ordered a detailed inquiry to ascertain the facts and the reasons that led to the collapse of the stage roof of the Kala Academy’s open-air auditorium.
Interacting with reporters after inspecting the site along with Public Works Department (PWD) Minister Nilesh Cabral, PWD Principal Chief Engineer (PCE) Uttam Parsekar and others, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant said, “I have asked PWD PCE to carry out inspection and submit the report to my office. We will launch a detailed probe to find out the exact reason. I will comment further on this issue after the PWD submits its report.”

PWD Minister Nilesh Cabral said that his department will conduct an inquiry and subsequently come out with a white paper on the entire incident.
“As of now we don’t know the reasons that led to the collapse of the slab, let the inquiry happen we will know the details. We will release a white paper once the inquiry is completed,” Cabral said.
Washing his hands off, Minister for Art and Culture Govind Gaude said, “The collapsed structure is under the possession of PWD. This hall is an independent hall and is not part of the main building of the Kala Academy. It is not possible to comment on it until and unless we get a report from the PWD.”
