PANJIM: Former Power Minister Pandurang Madkaikar, who is been undergoing treatment in Mumbai, on Tuesday informed Goa Lokayukta the palatial bungalow at Old Goa cannot be treated as his personal asset since it does not belong to him but to the company M/s Nikitasha Realtors Pvt Ltd, who has allowed him to use it for residential purpose.
A reply signed by Madkaikar was submitted through his lawyer before Lokayukta Justice (retired) PK Misra in a disproportionate assets case filed against him by social activist Adv Aires Rodrigues. The reply was signed by Madkaikar on October 19, before a Notary in Mumbai.
While adjourning the hearing to November 21, Lokayukta directed Chief Secretary and the Anti- Corruption Branch (ACB) to file their reply explaining as why no FIR was registered over the disproportionate assets of Madkaikar following complaint by Adv Rodrigues before ACB on May 9.
