PANJIM: Leader of the Opposition Michael Lobo on Wednesday said that Town and Country Planning (TCP) Minister Vishwajit Rane is targeting him so as to show the BJP leaders that he is in command of everything in the State.
Lobo said that Rane is after him because he quit the BJP and joined the Congress and for also becoming the Leader of Opposition. “This is nothing but witch-hunting by Rane,” he said.

Lobo said that the field in survey number 10/8 at Parra does not belong to him and that he had developed the adjacent field situated in survey number 10/9 owned by him and also rejuvenated a pond so as to grow vegetables there. “Today I grow most of the vegetables in my field, which is a poly house and now we do not buy vegetables in market,” he said.
“The officials of TCP and Agriculture Department should come to Parra and tell me what is illegal or what wrong I have done. I have not done anything illegal. The government should stop targeting me because somebody has filed a complaint against me,” he said adding that the government’s action will send a wrong message to those venturing into agriculture.
Referring to the complaint filed by Rama Matondkar in the year 2020, Lobo said that the question of blocking access to his field does not arise as the complainant was having a dispute with his family. “I had only helped Rama’s brother to take mud from my field and I was not aware that both the brothers are having litigation over their ancestral property,” Lobo said adding that Rama also named him as one of the respondents in a writ petition before the High Court at the behest of his detractor from Parra.
