Instead, they pointed out that the tiatr centered around Goa’s age old communal amity between Hindus, Christians and Muslims and attempts made by outside organisations to foment trouble in the State in the name of religion. The tiatr also portrayed how the same leader has called for a ban on women wearing bikinis and the pub culture.
Given that the mention of Muthalik’s names in the tiatr posters stirred the controversy, the director Tousif de Navelim used the name “Pundalik” to portray a Hindu leader espousing the cause of Hindu rashtra, who is not averse to using swords to defend the community.
In one scene, Fatorda MLA Vijai Sardesai was seen openly taking on Pundalik warning him that he would not be able to divide Goans on communal lines.
