PANJIM: The ad-hoc civil judge senior division and judicial magistrate first class (JMFC), Panjim Ms Arti Kumari, on Wednesday, issued notices to the Panjim Police Inspector (PI), Superintendent of Police (SP) North and the public prosecutor in connection with the criminal miscellaneous application filed by Goa Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC) president Girish Chodankar praying for registration of FIR against the 10 rebel party MLAs for allegedly forging documents.
During the hearing, the petitioner’s lawyer Adv Abhijit Gosavi produced the copy of the Supreme Court order and the notification dated October 29, 2020 issued by the Registrar General High Court of Judicature, Appellate Side, Bombay, regarding the designated special courts to try the criminal cases against the elected MPs and MLAs (past and present) pending before the courts of sessions and magistrates.
Adv Gosavi told the court that the criminal miscellaneous application does not fall in the ambit of the Supreme Court directives and prayed that the Panjim police be directed to register the FIR against the persons named in the complaint for forging the party documents and to start investigations.
The court later issued notices to all the respondents and asked them to remain present for the next hearing fixed on July 7.
Chodankar approached the court after Panjim police failed to register FIR against the MLAs and others based on his complaint dated April 20.
