Notice to ACB in Garg case

PANJIM: The Special Court has issued notices to the Anti Corruption Bureau that is probing the bribery case against Inspector General of Police Sunil Garg. The next hearing is scheduled on September 28.

Munnalal Halwai, who had alleged that the IGP had demanded and accepted a bribe of Rs 5.5 lakh, had approached the Special Court in Panjim under Section 154 CrPC on finding that ACB had not investigated the complaint. On hearing the arguments, the court which was already seized of the matter, issued the notices. 
Meanwhile, the Goa Lokayukta that is also investigating the corruption case had asked for a status report of the investigation from ACB. The next hearing is scheduled on October 21. 
ACB has reportedly moved for government sanction. Sources said the file seeking sanction has been sent to the Law Department for examination.
