VASCO: A show cause notice has been issued to the Mormugao Block Development Officer (BDO) for not attending meetings called by Election Commission.
Sources in the Mormugao BDO said that the election process in State for the 2017 assembly polls kick started some days ago, after which the Election Commission held several meeting with various Assistant Electoral Registration Officer (AERO) as well as Electoral Registration Officer (ERO) from all 12 talukas of the State. However, as an AERO, the Mormugao BDO failed to attend few such meetings.
Taking cognizance of the same the South Goa Collector L S R Pereira (additional charge) recently issued a show cause to BDO Premanand Naik seeking explanation as to why he failed to attend the crucial meetings.
Sources have also informed that BDO Naik has been admitted in a hospital in Ponda and thus was unable to attend the meetings.
