PANJIM: Deputy Collector and Sub-Divisional Magistrate, Panjim has issued a show cause notice to Alcon Constructions, Corporation of the City of Panaji (CCP) and the Taleigao Panchayat for the illegal encroachment of the St Inez Creek at Tonca.
The order issued by the Deputy Collector, Vivek HP under section 133 of CrPC states “It has been made to appear to me that you have caused a nuisance to persons living in Taleigao/ Panaji by illegally encroaching into the St Inez Creek at Tonca, for common use in the said property by way of dumping of mud a excavation and hazardous, construction activities and the said nuisance continues to exist.”
Directing to stop work, the order further said “I, do hereby require you to cease the said hazardous excavation and construction with immediate effect and not to restart the same and to show cause as to why should you not restore to its original condition. You are hereby called upon to appear in this court on April 5, at 12 pm and to show cause why this order should not be enforced.”
