Notification over stricter ID checks

The state has issued a notification not to allow any person into hotels and cyber cafes without valid identity cards and also authorized police to file a case against the owners of hotels and cyber cafes if directions are not followed.

PANJIM: The state has issued a notification not to allow any person into hotels and cyber cafes without valid identity cards and also authorized police to file a case against the owners of hotels and cyber cafes if directions are not followed. 

Cyber cafes have been directed to install CCTVs cameras and maintain at least 30-day footage.

Lodging, boarding and guest houses as well as paying guest accommodation of religious bodies have been brought under the purview of the notification.

Stating that boarding houses and cyber cafes are found to have been used by terrorists and criminals, owners of such establishments have also been told to maintain a register of all visitors and inform police of any suspicious activity which they may notice.

Valid identity cards include election card, driving licence, smart card, employment card, ATM or any other authorized identity.
