MARGAO: Stating that it is the duty of the government to respect the contribution of seafarers to the development of Goa, Leader of Opposition Yuri Alemao appealed to CM Pramod Sawant to notify the Seafarers’ Permanent Pension Scheme during the festive season and clear all pending dues immediately. The current scheme is set to expire on November 30.
Alemao added that the government needs to simplify the process of to avail the benefits under the scheme, as many widows of seafarers are not tech savvy. “The Department of NRI Affairs should hold camps to facilitate application submission, uploading of documents,” he said.
