MARGAO: South Goa Sessions Judge Vincent Silva acquitted notorious gangster Michael Fernandes and his two accomplices Anil Kumar Yadav and Jai Shakarathi for lack of evidence in the Canaguinim robbery and arms case. The accused were charged under section 394, 397, 398, 342 read with 34 IPC and section 25 of the Arms Act.
Fernandes along with Yadav and Shakarathi had entered the house of Camilo Rebello at 8 pm on December 14, 2011, by knocking on the back door. After the elderly lady of the house Rosy Rebello opened the door, the accused threatened her at gun point and took the cupboard keys from her. They stole whatever valuables they could lay their hands on.
Adv Amey Prabhudesai and Frazier Rebello appeared for accused, while the State was represented by public prosecutor Asha Arsekar.
