CURCHOREM: Fed up with dust pollution and haphazard mining transportation from Cavrem-Pirla to Curchorem through Quepem market, Quepem Municipal Council (QMC) had passed a resolution to stop it.
Now the citizens are complaining that trucks carrying coal have been frequently doing the transportation on Curchorem-Quepem-Margao road and polluting the environment as well as creating nuisance on the road.
Taking cognisance of the issue, Quepem Councillor Amol Kanekar along with some citizens met the Quepem Deputy Collector Shanker Gaonkar and submitted a memorandum urging him to stop the coal transportation through Quepem market as it causes hardship to the civilians and also pollutes environment.
“Before these trucks become a reason for fatal accident, I request you to stop the coal transportation through Quepem market at least during the rainy season,” stated Kanekar in the memorandum.
