Panjim: After Goa Forward Party (GFP), now Congress too has exposed the Labour Gate Scam of the BJP-led government.
Addressing media persons on Wednesday, Goa Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC) general secretary Amarnath Panjikar charged that BJP workers are the beneficiaries of the financial support announced for construction workers to tide over the loss of wages caused due to COVID pandemic, by the Dr Pramod Sawant-led government.
He said 22,000 labourers from States like Goa, Madhya Pradesh, Bihar, Orissa, West Bengal, Delhi, Himachal Pradesh and other States have been registered with the Labour Department.
“However, the list of beneficiaries shows the names of BJP workers, sarpanch and panch members from ruling party; also Zilla Panchayat candidates of BJP and their family members,” he said.
Pointing out that Government had announced to provide financial support of Rs 6,000 each to around 15,000 construction workers and another Rs 4,000 each to other 4,000 labourers, Panjikar said that the RTI information reveals that a single beneficiary has got whopping Rs 40,000 to Rs nine lakh.
He said that the party will approach necessary legal authority for investigation and action.
