Now, excise licences at the click of a button

PANJIM: Liquor license holders need not visit the Excise Department for procuring excise licenses as the department has done away with the conventional style of manual applications. The new module will not only reduce manual workload and the clearing time significantly, but also ensure transparency and accountability.
While a few services have already been digitized, the department, in this latest move, threw open a few more services online of which seeking new licenses are also just a click away. “New modules in the Goa Excise Management System, such as online application and processing for grant of new licenses, transfer and shifting of existing licenses and cancellation request is at the click of a mouse,” Commissioner Amit Satija said.
Sources said they have already begun receiving online applications for new licenses. Excise stations across the State receive several hundred applications for starting new ventures in the liquor business each of which undergo a meticulous process including inspection of the site for the proposed outlet. With the start of online system, the manual processing of documentary work will drastically reduce.
The department on Tuesday launched another online initiative consisting of online transport permits from manufacturers to wholesaler and from wholesalers to retailers, online production and tracking module for all manufacturing units and online enforcement module to track violations and repeat offenses. In addition to this, an android based mobile app has also been introduced for all licensees to upload accounts of daily transactions as prescribed under the Goa Excise Duty & Rules, 1964.
The department has further informed license holders to link multiple licenses of Excise Department held by a single licensee for better data management, processing of various requests and for faster online services. For existing license holders, the department has decided to obtain details of PAN along with a self-attested copy at the time of submission of forms for renewal.
