PANJIM: Goa Forward Party (GFP) on Friday slammed the Church over the controversial article published on its pastoral bulletin ‘Renovacao’ demanding that an investigative report needs to be prepared on how sincere the organisation was in its report and release timing.
Addressing the media, GFP Spokesperson, Trajano D’mello said ,“It is my firm conviction that the controversial article published in the pastoral bulletin ‘Renovacao’ and the timing of the release by the CJSP investigative report and demand of an SIT on the desecration of the religious structures at the time of by-elections is an error of judgement.”
“The sooner the authorities admit the error and reconcile the better,” he added.
He also questioned the silence of the Council for Social Justice and Peace (CJSP) on the death of Bismarque Dias. “If CJSP is so disturbed by religious structures destroyed, when there were question raised on the investigation of the death of Fr Bismarque, did CJSP not find it necessary to appoint an investigative team and challenge the police investigation?” D’Mello asked.
The GFP spokesperson also said he would like to assure the people that as long as GFP is an ally of the government it will spare no efforts to maintain communal harmony.
“We will also not allow people in Goa to fuel communal tension and support such acts for creating vote banks,” he added.
