Now, GTDC woos Muscat tourists

Over 50 travel agents briefed on tourism options in Goa

PANJIM: To promote tourism in Goa, representatives from the Goa Tourism Development Corporation (GTDC) held an event at Radisson Blu Hotel, Muscat last week.
Over 50 travel agents from the Sultanate were briefed on the options for tourism in Goa.
Deepak Narvekar, GTDC’s senior manager marketing and public relations officer said, “This is our first visit in the last five years. We are happy to receive positive feedback from Omanis on Goa. We are here to provide first-hand knowledge of beaches and other entertainment options in Goa. We found a huge tourism interest about Goa in Oman. Along with beaches and nightlife, Goa offers yoga, ayurveda and wellness options.”
On safety, Narvekar said there are round-the-clock police and lifeguards on beaches. Drishti Lifesaving, a water safety and rescue service has its personnel on beaches to take care of any emergency. Dhiraj R Vagle, Assistant Director, Department of Tourism, said, “With personnel from Drishti Lifesaving stationed on beaches, drowning cases have come down drastically.”
Vagle said GTDC is not only targeting families but senior citizens, groups and individual travellers too. “Goa is not only about beaches but one will be surprised to see facilities for medical tourism, spice plantation and wildlife tourism. There are bird watching options, beach weddings, adventure sports and carnivals. Our aim is to go beyond beaches and help travellers explore different parts and food of Goa.”
GTDC is promoting Monsoon Tourism and offering a discount of 20 to 30 per cent on accommodation and food.
