PANJIM: As temperatures rise, Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) Goa observatory on Saturday ruled out the possibility of a heat wave in the State and instead forecast a gradual fall in the day temperatures from Sunday onwards.

IMD Goa in charge Rahul Menon said there is a likely gradual fall in the temperature from Sunday onwards and hence there are no heat wave warnings for any districts of Goa.

“In the IMD sub-division ‘Konkan and Goa’, heat wave warnings are there for Palghar, Thane, Mumbai, Raigad, Ratnagiri, Sindhudurg,” he said.

He explained that in Goa the day time maximum temperature in the coastal areas will be around 35 degrees Celsius for the next 24 hours and interior parts may experience 2-3 degree higher values of temperatures based on local topography and climatology.

IMD India had earlier warned of a possible heat wave like condition in the coming two months of April and May and in an advisory issued, had asked the residents to adhere to precautions from soaring temperature.

The citizens have been asked to switch to light food habits and adequate water intake during these hottest months. Seasonal fruits and vegetables help to keep one cool and hydrated.
