Now, MPDA partially demolishes 3 houses in Dabolim funnel zone

VASCO: The Mormugao Planning and Development Authority (MPDA) on Tuesday carried out partial demolition of three more houses in the funnel zone at Dabolim, despite the owners claiming to have obtained all permissions and Naval NOCs.

On February 16, the authorities had partially demolished 16 houses in the same area.

The residents claimed that they had already obtained NOC to construct houses up to 3.50 metres height. But now without any prior demolition notice, the Navy had ordered to restrict the height to only 1.60 metres.

The occupants of these residential houses told mediapersons that they had purchased the land with their hard-earned money and that they obtained all valid approvals including construction licence from the Chicalim Village Panchayat, TCP Department approvals, occupancy certificate, sanad and MPDA approvals and finally got Naval NOC in 2013. The houses were built in 2016.

The residents claimed as a precaution they constructed upper slab up to 3.40 metres, less than 10 metres which was permissible. But after eight years they were issued show cause notices stating that they had exceeded their upper slab than the permissible 3.50 metres. They said that the Navy wanted them to reduce their height to 1.60 metres. The residents said that the MPDA had refused to accept their submissions and partially demolished their structures.
