Now, N Goa bans birds from K’taka

PANJIM: After the South Collectorate, the North Goa District Magistrate has banned import of all birds from neighbouring Karnataka as a precautionary step to avert the possibility of bird flu in the State.

PANJIM: After the South Collectorate, the North Goa District Magistrate has banned import of all birds from neighbouring Karnataka as a precautionary step to avert the possibility of bird flu in the State.  
The notification prohibits the transportation and entry of birds from the adjoining State into Goa for a period of 60 days from July 25 to September 22 unless withdrawn earlier. 
Sources said the measure has been taken since there have been confirmed cases of bird flu in Bidar district of Karnataka .
