PANJIM: To avoid traffic chaos at Cujira during the board exams, the Goa Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education (GBSHSE) has created a new examination centre in Panjim; bifurcating it from the centre at Cujira for the upcoming HSSC exams, beginning from February 28.
The examination for Higher Secondary School Certificate (HSSC) would be conducted across 17 centres from February 28 to March 26. As many as 17,902 students have registered for the exams.
Speaking to Herald, Goa Board chairman Ramakrishna Samant said that this year, Panjim will be the new Centre, covering nine higher secondary schools, where HSSC exams would be held. “Earlier, it was only Cujira centre, but this year we have created Panjim centre via a bifurcation. The basic reason is to avoid traffic chaos that take place in the Cujira premises,” he said.
The Panjim Centre will comprise higher secondary schools such as St Michael, Dona Bosco, Jadeed, T B Cunha government HSS, People’s, Madkaikar HSSC, St Xavier’s Academy and Our Lady of the Rosary.
The Cujira centre will include Dempo HSS, K B Hedgewar, Mushtifund HSS, Santa Cruz HSS and Mushtifund Aryans.
Samant said that the practical examinations will start from February 4 and end on February 14. “The Board examinations begin from February 28 onwards,” he said.
The exams will begin with Accountancy (Commerce), Physics (Science) and History (Arts) on February 28.
On March 1, students will have to answer the language paper I. There is five-day gap for Chemistry paper which is scheduled on March 6 along with Business paper. On March 8 (Economics), March 11 (Biology/Geology), March 13 (Mathematics/ Political Science), March 15 (Psychology/Cookery), March 16 (Hindi Language), March 18 (Banking), March 23 (Geography), March 25 (Sociology) and March 26 (Marathi ).
The Goa Board is likely to announce the HSSCE results by third week of April and SSCE by May end.
